In early October Southwestern Watercolor Society had its fall plein-air paint-out in Athens, TX.  I did a couple of ink and watercolor sketches downtown. This is the First Baptist Church.

The day before I worked on the town square and captured the Henderson County Courthouse.

Urban Sketchers DFW met recently at the Truck Yard food-truck spot on Sears and lower Greenville in Dallas.  This old, old truck was part of the decor and it really grabbed me . . . so I grabbed a sketch.

Is your glass half-full . . . or?

My first page in a new tinted-paper sketchbook.  I used water-soluble graphite, white pencil and some watercolor.

Sketch Books

Who doesn't like a new sketchbook?  I just got two, both with tinted paper.  Here they are.

And . . .

Happy Birthday, Peyton

Our eldest great-granddaughter, Peyton Brown, had her first birthday party Saturday.  I did these two drawings for her nursery.  First is Humpty.

Then Hickory Dickery Dock.

These raise a question or two: What is a Hickory Dickery Dock?  Maybe it's at a marina where you tie up your Hickory Dickery?  And just how big was Humpty Dumpty, that it took a bunch of guys on horseback to try reassemble him?  Just asking.

New Blog

This is a new blog . . . about sketching, as you can see.  My old blog, Herb Reed Sketchbook, is now retired, or at least archived   It's still there as www.herbreedsketchbook.blogspot.com, if you want to see sketches I did in the past few years.  But I'm now pulling my "stuff" together under the TexaSketcher banner . . . hence the change.  You can see some more (or more of the same) on www.facebook.com/texasketcher.
